KLSTRBAS (which stands for "cluster bass") is a plugin for the well-known audio editing tool Audacity that can help advanced computer users such as sound engineers, music producers or users with similar activities enhance the quality of their projects. As one could probably imagine, this plugin can be used to create dense sounds by combining various waveforms with fixed frequency ratio values between them. For example, the early drum machines created by Roland generated cymbal sounds partially by merging several square waves with non-integral frequency ratios. The resulting combined signal was processed through a high-pass filter that produced a dense cluster of high-frequency harmonics. KLSTRBAS was born during a fail attempt to create the cymbal sounds by using the technique described above. Among the parameters that can be adjusted by using this plugin users can find MIDI key, Decay, Fractional Decay, Density, Detune and Flange. Adjusting these parameters can be simply done by accessing the plugin's configuration window and dragging the sliders across the bars until the desired value is reached. An alternative would be typing the values directly in the designated boxes. This operation can be better handled by professionals who already know what values should be placed there in the first place.

KLSTRBAS Free Download
The plugin is free and open source, and available under the GNU General Public License (GPL). It is also available as a free download from SourceForge. KLSTRBAS Documentation: KLSTRBAS v0.9 is completely written from scratch. The GUI design was handled by Christine L. Prior. The documentation, as well as the manual for the older versions of KLSTRBAS are available on the KLSTRBAS website. The manual is available for download under the GNU General Public License (GPL) while the documentation is available under a Creative Commons (CC) Attribution 3.0 license. The manual, as well as the other documentation can be downloaded from the KLSTRBAS website. KLSTRBAS v1.0 (as of May 10th 2008): This version of KLSTRBAS may be considered to be a beta version, as it is still under development and is very incomplete. It is still under active development. As of v1.0, the plugin has a much more complete command-line interface (CLI) that has been implemented fully in C++. The plugin now has a powerful and fast state machine that is fully threaded with multi-threaded reads/writes. This means that sequences of multiple reads/writes can be done with the CPU and all the plugins still handle the MIDI sync properly. The GUI has been rewritten from scratch to support audio processing. It now also supports rotating the view and sending output to a "master" waveform, so complex operations can be done with ease on the GUI. I have also added a number of features on a site not documented here, so don't let that discourage you from trying to use the plugin.
