Mac users have Photoshop for Mac, and the software features a traditional user interface, similar to that of Windows. For example, the Layers panel (refer to the "Convert Layers to Planes" section later in this chapter) is similar to the Windows panel. Many Photoshop features have also been made available through Creative Cloud, a subscription-based service where you can purchase access to the software for a monthly fee. Currently, the only features currently available include the ability to edit images with multiple, independent layers. Additional features will be added as they become available. Using Photoshop for Mac To begin editing a photo, you first need to open the image in Photoshop. This is done through the File menu or by clicking the image. Doing so displays the image in the background with the tools and rulers displayed. You can then crop the image and draw a selection to apply the same tool effects to multiple areas of the image. To access some of the more detailed functions of Photoshop, you need to zoom in on the image, which enlarges the image. You can zoom in further to 100 percent for more precise editing. You can then do any number of tasks with the enlargement, including crop and zoom, to manipulate the image. Each Photoshop user has a Favorites folder. You can find this folder inside your home directory. The Favorites folder is where any items you've saved in the program are placed so that you can easily find them when needed. The Favorites folder is also where you place images you want to place on a web page. Open the image (the folder icon on the left side of the screen) and click the Open button. The image opens inside the window. (If you don't see the image, choose File⇒Open or press the keyboard shortcut B to open the image in a new Photoshop window.) See the image shown in Figure 3-1? The image has been opened, so you can make changes to it. Press the Ctrl+Z/⌘-Z keyboard shortcut to undo any edits made to the image. **Figure 3-1:** Photos are open in this version of Photoshop. Finding the Tools panel The Tools panel is displayed at the bottom of the Photoshop window in which you've opened an image or photos. You can find it by pressing Alt+T/Option+T on the keyboard (refer to Figure 3-1). The panel displays all the editing tools available

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered the army to withdraw from the Jordan Valley, citing a "significant escalation of the threat from Syria" - a move that international reaction to swiftly condemn. Mr Netanyahu said it was a "necessary" step, in advance of a peace deal with the Palestinians. Israel currently occupies the entire Jordan Valley, including the West Bank city of Jericho. But the UN says the Israeli withdrawal from the area would be "unjustifiable". Jericho - where the Israeli wall cuts into the West Bank - sits in the Jordan Valley, but it is under full Palestinian control. Mr Netanyahu's announcement came ahead of his meeting with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in the West Bank city of Ramallah. A final peace deal between Israel and the Palestinians hinges on the issue of settlements - the presence of Jewish settlements in territory Israel was captured in the 1967 war. The US, which is close to Mr Netanyahu, Israel and Arab states, said it was "extremely disappointed" and "deeply concerned" by the Israeli move. "We have urged Israel to refrain from unilateral steps and direct contacts with the Syrian authorities, and encourage the parties to return to direct negotiations," the White House said. New US envoy to the Middle East It added that "time is not on Israel's side" and urged both parties to stick to the "two-state solution" and to "seek a peaceful resolution that ends the conflict once and for all". Image copyright AP Image caption A Middle East peace conference has been planned for September The Palestinians welcomed the Israeli decision, although they have long demanded that settlement building must stop. A statement from their spokesman, Nabil Abu Rudeineh, said: "It is a positive achievement for all the steps that the Palestinians have taken to respond to the Israeli decision and establish an independent state with east Jerusalem as its capital. "Despite the significant limitations this decision has, we consider it a first and critical step towards the Palestinian state. The other side has also acknowledged that the decision has political significance and is an important accomplishment and achievement that puts it on the right track. "We call upon the Israeli government to use this momentous opportunity to end the occupation and commit to establishing an independent and viable

[Myocardial microcirculation and cardiac activity in chronic exposure to extreme ambient temperature]. The aim of the present work was to study the effect of chronic exposure of white rats to extreme ambient temperature (EEAT) on the activity of ischemic heart myocardial microcirculation and the role of endothelium and glycocalyx in myocardial blood flow regulation. The experiments were carried out on male Wistar rats (n=26) at 21-22 degrees C and exposure to EEAT for two and four weeks. Myocardial blood flow (MBF) and myocardial oxygen consumption (MVO2) were measured with the fluorescent and radioactive microsphere methods, respectively. It was shown that EEAT promotes substantial blood flow decrease in different parts of the heart. After 4-week exposure to EEAT at 21-22 degrees C, endothelium-dependent vasodilation reduced by 11-45%, whereas vasodilation with exogenous glycocalyx ligands was comparable to the response to vasodilation with acetylcholine (ACh), and due to EEAT was 2-3 times more effective than ACh. Under EEAT, the effectiveness of vascular smooth muscle sensitivity to endogenous nitric oxide (NO) was reduced. The data obtained demonstrate that EEAT reduces MBF and myocardial energy exchange in rats in a condition of acute blood flow increase by NO. However, an additional reduction in MBF without an increase in MVO2 is coupled with reduced endothelial glycocalyx synthesis and the reduction of endothelial NO function. The latter leads to a decrease in ACh effectiveness and NO-dependent vascular smooth muscle vasodilation.Q: How can I dynamically increase a form field in VBA? The issue I'm having is probably pretty simple, but I'm not sure how to do it. I've got a form with a text field. I want to automatically increase the number in the text field. The user enters a number in the textbox, and I want the text in the textbox to automatically change to "Number $[whatever number they entered]". How do I do that? A: You can use the following, and it'll update the formula in the textbox as the user types. Sub TextBoxIncrement() Dim txt As MSForms.TextBox, N As Long For Each txt In Me.Controls
